Music
The very mention of Vienna evokes waltz tunes in your head, and everything starts to spin. Vienna and music are inseparable. No other major city has been able to pass on its musical heritage from generation to generation, enriching it with international influences in such a modern way.
This reality naturally inspires the Lycée Français de Vienne to offer a diverse, high-quality, convivial and connected range of artistic activities. This is achieved through various ensembles open to all, encouraging interaction and sharing with audiences through rehearsals, workshops and concerts.
The choirs
The children’s choir: created in September 2023, open to primary schools pupils in CE2, CM1 and CM2 classes.
The young choir: created in September 2022, open to pupils in 6e, 5e, 4e and 3e classes.

Experiencing exceptional artistic projects in tune with Vienna’s musical life
Wiener Jugendsingen
In April 2023, the LFV Young Choir took part in the Wiener Jugendsingen.. The LFV’s Young Choir’s performance at both the festival and the school choir competition organised by the Austrian Ministry of Education was rewarded with a ‘very good’ mention by the competition jury. It was also a great opportunity to perform at MuTh (Augarten), the official concert hall of the Wiener Sängerknaben.
Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony at the Vienna Konzerthaus
In May 2024, pupils from the LFV Children’s Choir and Young Choir will be taking part in Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony at the Vienna Konzerthaus. A project led by the Vienna University Philharmonic, choirs and orchestra under the direction of Vijay Upadhyaya. This was a unique opportunity to sing in a monumental work that brought together almost 500 musicians and singers, and what’s more in a major venue in Viennese musical life where Gustav Mahler himself conducted.
