AEFE-Schol­ar­ships and finan­cial aid

This tuition assis­tance is reserved for French pupils aged three years or old­er who reside with their fam­i­lies out­side France, are reg­is­tered in the glob­al reg­is­ter of French cit­i­zens liv­ing abroad, and attend a French edu­ca­tion­al institution.

This edu­ca­tion­al assis­tance is grant­ed on the basis of means testing.

The first peri­od of the 2026/2027 edu­ca­tion­al assis­tance cam­paign is now open. 

Schol­ar­ship appli­ca­tions are sub­mit­ted to the Con­sular Sec­tion of the French Embassy in Vienna.

Dur­ing the first peri­od, fam­i­lies may submit:

  • An ini­tial appli­ca­tion for the enrol­ment of your child(ren) from the start of the 2026 school year.
  • A renew­al appli­ca­tion if your child(ren) already receive(s) grants for the 2025–2026 school year.

Gen­er­al con­di­tions for eli­gi­bil­i­ty for the school grant system:

  • French nation­al­i­ty
  • be reg­is­tered in the Reg­is­ter of French Nation­als Liv­ing Abroad
  • be resid­ing with their fam­i­ly (father and/or moth­er and/or legal guardian) in Austria
  • be at least 3 years old on 31 Decem­ber 2025 (for chil­dren enter­ing Kindergarten)
  • be enrolled at the Lycée de Vienne
  • in addi­tion to these eli­gi­bil­i­ty require­ments, the award­ing of a schol­ar­ship also depends on the com­po­si­tion and resources of your house­hold, as well as your finan­cial situation.

Schol­ar­ships are award­ed for one aca­d­e­m­ic year by an allo­ca­tion com­mit­tee that meets twice a year, in spring and autumn.
