An exceptional musical legacy and a unique opportunity.
Music
At the mere mention of Vienna, waltzes begin to swirl in your mind, and everything starts to spin. Vienna and music are inseparable. No other major metropolis has managed to pass down its musical heritage from generation to generation while enriching it with international influences in such a modern way. Vienna is the world capital of music!
This reality naturally inspires the Lycée Français de Vienne to offer a diverse, high-quality, and connected artistic program open to all. Through various ensembles, the school encourages encounters, community living, and sharing with audiences through rehearsals, workshops, and concerts.
The introduction of the music option in September 2024 is also a response to this exceptional context. It provides high school students with a real opportunity to enhance their musical practice and engagement in ensembles such as the LFV Choir and Orchestra, whose activities are fully integrated into the music option curriculum.
The ECHO Program
Launched in September 2024, the ECHO program—École CHorale et Orchestrale of the Lycée Français de Vienne—brings together under one entity the various vocal and instrumental ensembles created within the school since September 2022.
To date, the ECHO program at LFV brings together nearly 200 students from elementary to high school through various pedagogical and artistic projects. It is supported by prestigious partners, including the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (Passwort:Klassik, Summer Opera Camps), the City of Vienna, Uniart Culture and Media Vienna, the Vienna University Philharmonic, and the Embassy of Vietnam in Austria.

Exceptional Artistic Projects in Prestigious Venues Connected to Vienna’s Musical Life
Klingende Konzerteinführung
Since the 2024–25 season, the LFV Choir, along with students from the music option, has been invited by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra to create introductory sessions for concerts held at the Musikverein. These sessions provide audiences with listening tools to better understand the works featured in the Wiener Philharmoniker concerts.
China Meets Austria!
Since 2024, to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the LFV Choir has had the honor of participating in the "International Gala Concert – Jungenchöre & Jugendorchester" in the Great Hall of the Musikverein, a world-renowned venue in Vienna’s musical culture. This event also fosters exchanges and shared musical moments within the school with Chinese choirs.
Internationales Wiener Adventsingen
Since December 2024, various choirs have performed as part of the Wiener Adventsingen, an international choral festival organized by the City of Vienna at the Rathaus. This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of Vienna’s musical life alongside choirs from around the world.
Franco-Vietnamese Concert
On November 30, 2024, the LFV Orchestra and Young Choir shared the stage of the Studio Molière with the Vietnamese choir "Hop Ca Que Huong" from Paris, directed by Madame Ngan Ha Nguyen. The program, "Promenades franco-vietnamiennes", featured traditional Vietnamese songs arranged for choir and orchestra, alongside French works.
Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony at the Vienna Konzerthaus
In May 2024, students from the Children’s Choir and Young Choir of LFV participated in Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony at the Vienna Konzerthaus. This project, led by the Vienna University Philharmonic, involved choirs and orchestras conducted by Vijay Upadhyaya. It was a unique opportunity to perform in a monumental work bringing together nearly 500 musicians and singers in one of Vienna’s most prestigious musical venues, where Gustav Mahler himself once conducted.
Wiener Jugendsingen
In April 2023, the LFV Young Choir participated in the Wiener Jugendsingen, a festival and competition dedicated to school choral singing, organized by the Austrian Ministry of Education. The LFV Young Choir received a "Very Good" distinction from the competition jury. This was also an opportunity to perform at the MuTh (Augarten), the concert hall of the Wiener Sängerknaben.
