The Parcours Avenir
The Parcours Avenir is a key component of career guidance in the French education system, which aims to enable students to get to know themselves better, discover the economic and professional world, and identify the training courses and careers that match their aspirations. It is based on dedicated classroom time, interdisciplinary projects, meetings with professionals, and progressive work on developing personal projects. The Parcours Avenir programme thus promotes autonomy, initiative, and the ability of students to make informed choices.
Actions taken to promote career guidance
Throughout the year, numerous activities enrich the career guidance programme: information sessions on educational pathways and systems, career forums, presentations by professionals and former students on various education programmes, meetings with higher education institutions, information on career fairs, support in using career guidance platforms, and personalised interviews. Specific time is also set aside for preparing specialised course choices, providing support for applying to university after the bacccalauréat, and thinking about further education. The school's partnership with the Strasbourg Academy allows us to welcome career guidance specialists (Psy-En) every year. Parents' associations also offer to share their professional expertise with our students through their participation in the career forum.
Study opportunities in France, Austria and internationally
Thanks to its roots in the French education network worldwide, its international location and its plurilinguism, the Lycée Français de Vienne prepares students for a wide variety of further education options. Students can choose to pursue higher education in France (universities, classes préparatoires, grandes écoles), in Austria (universities, Fachhochschulen), or international programmes in Europe and around the world (the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, and the United Kingdom, to name just a few of the most popular countries). The guidance offered enables students and their families to understand the specific features of each system, the admission requirements and the language requirements, in order to develop an academic plan that is open and adapted to an international context.
