Discover the three places that encourage reading within our school.
Preschool Library
The Preschool Library is a central and vibrant space at the heart of our school. As a place of discovery, escape, and joy, it offers all students—from the youngest to the oldest—special moments centered around reading.
With a collection of over 14,000 books in French and German, the library allows children to regularly borrow picture books and magazines, fostering the development of language, imagination, and a love of reading from an early age. Parents can also borrow books every Tuesday from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM.
Throughout the year, the library comes alive with numerous projects and events, such as "European Day of Languages," "Lire en Fête" (Reading Festival), and "The Readers' Prize." Meetings with authors and illustrators are also organized. These professionals visit classrooms to discuss their work, present their books, and lead creative workshops, offering students a rich and stimulating cultural experience.
The Preschool Library is a place of sharing, cultural exploration, and discovery, where the joy of reading is nurtured day by day.
Elementary School Library
The Elementary School Library welcomes all students from CP to CM2 (Grades 1 to 5) during class time or supervised access. They come to read on-site, borrow books, and participate in storytime sessions, fostering a love of reading and cultural openness from a young age.
With a collection of over 20,000 books and 30 magazine subscriptions in French, German, and English, the library provides diverse resources tailored to different reading levels and classroom projects.
As a structuring and unifying space, it is at the heart of many cultural and educational projects, such as the European Day of Languages, Lire en Fête, author visits, and activities centered around books and illustration.
The Elementary School Library works closely with the CDI (Documentation and Information Center) and the Preschool Library. Together, these three spaces develop joint projects, such as the Readers' Prize, Read-Aloud Sessions, European Day of Languages, Film Festival, and various other initiatives to promote reading and culture.
The library is open to students from Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM, and until 12:00 PM on Wednesdays.
CDI (Documentation and Information Center)
The CDI (Documentation and Information Center) is a library and workspace open to all middle and high school students and teachers. It provides a wide range of resources, including books, magazines, digital documents, and online tools, enabling students to conduct research, read on-site, borrow books, and access information about post-high school orientation and careers.
As a calm and welcoming space, the CDI offers an environment conducive to focused individual work, while also providing opportunities for discovery and relaxation through reading and cultural activities.
As part of their pedagogical and cultural missions, the librarians organize numerous activities and events throughout the year, including:
-
Promoting reading: Author visits, reading committees, publication of Lirolycée (the school libraries' newspaper), read-aloud competitions, literary Advent calendars, and literary awards.
-
Cultural activities: Film festivals, illustration and writing contests, exhibitions, and the European Day of Languages.
-
Media and information literacy: Leading the LFV Media Club (webradio, WebTV, and print media), educational sessions during Press and Media Week in Schools, and supporting students in documentary research.
The entire collection is accessible via the online catalog, available to all users. (Link coming soon.)
