What a wealth of topics are covered in 1ère BFI
As part of their ‘World Studies’ module, 1ère International French Baccalaureate students undertake personal projects based on their own research into a topic relating to a pressing social issue.
To this end, they liaise with external partners who provide expertise in their chosen field and help them to develop and implement their project. The project must be rooted in current affairs in German-speaking countries.
This research and project are carried out over the two years of the BFI.
This year, 1ère pupils have chosen a variety of themes and issues:
- Raising the profile of women and their works in classical music
- How can young athletes be made aware of the problems associated with doping and shown the benefits of training methods that lead to improved performance?
- How do representations of the body in art and social media constitute a symbolic expression of political and societal issues?
- Increase the representation of women in science and challenge gender stereotypes in this field
- Decolonise thinking and the public sphere – Raise awareness of the effects that representations inherited from colonialism still have today
- Inspire young people and equip them with the means to set up start-ups with a focus on social and environmental responsibility
- Raise awareness of the existential urgency of preserving biodiversity
