Our students at the Musikverein
On Sunday 27 September, our students from the music option had the privilege of taking part in the prelude to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's concert, conducted by the Finnish conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen.
In the prestigious Brahms Hall of the Musikverein, musicians of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performed several excerpts from the works on the concert programme: Witold Lutosławski's Symphony No. 4, Claude Debussy's La Mer and Jean Sibelius's Symphony No. 5.
These excerpts were introduced by Esa-Pekka Salonen, giving the students a rare opportunity to get closer to the works and to discover how a great conductor approaches their interpretation.
The prelude concluded with a particularly moving moment: the choir of the Lycée Français de Vienne, under the direction of Claude Brendel, performed Charles Trenet's La Mer. A way of letting our students' voices resound in one of Vienna's most iconic musical venues.
This invitation reflects the place the Lycée Français de Vienne occupies in its cultural environment and the importance given to encounters between our students and the great artistic institutions of the Austrian capital.
A huge bravo to our students and to the LFV choir, as well as to Claude Brendel, for this magnificent contribution.
