Summer Reading in French

Summer offers your children an excellent opportunity to unwind and escape from their daily routines—even in French—by combining the joy of discovery with the sense of well-being that comes with school holidays. If you live in a non-French-speaking environment, maintaining this connection to the French language is essential for your children’s academic success.

We strongly encourage our students to practice French every day during the summer: reading newspapers, listening to podcasts, and watching movies or documentaries. We also invite you to support them in this effort and to limit their passive use of social media and short videos, which often undermine concentration and reasoning skills.

Nothing can replace reading books, which remains the most enriching activity. Opening a novel means allowing yourself the freedom to dream, to travel without limits, and to immerse yourself in new stories. It is an invitation to explore unknown worlds and to live a thousand lives over the course of a summer.

To help you get started, you’ll find our reading recommendations for grades 6ème through 1ère below, along with free online resources for a variety of reading enjoyment.

Have a wonderful summer, everyone.
