Les ptits champions de la lecture : a Celebration of the Joy of Reading Across Europe

The French Lycée of Vienna was delighted to host a new edition of the Little Reading Champions, an event dedicated to sharing, culture, and a love of words.

Students from across Central and Eastern Europe — from Bonn to Tbilisi, from Riga to Zurich, including Bratislava, Budapest, Warsaw, and Vilnius — came together, both in person and online, forming a true community of young readers.

Through their expressive readings aloud, participants took the audience and jury on a journey through rich and varied literary worlds: from the adventures of Harry Potter to the timeless pages of Les Misérables, as well as Le Petit Nicolas, Mortelle Adèle, and Wings of Fire. These stories crossed borders, carried by the voices and dedication of the students.

More than just a competition, the event highlighted the true value of reading: opening horizons, nurturing imagination, and strengthening expression and understanding of the world. Reading is far more than decoding words — it is stepping into new worlds, meeting unforgettable characters, and growing through them.

The students demonstrated great courage and commitment in presenting their chosen texts before an audience. Each and every one of them can be proud of their achievement: beyond the competition, they have already gained something essential — the joy of reading and sharing words.

Congratulations to all participants for this wonderful literary journey, and heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this event.

At the French Lycée of Vienna, words continue to travel… and to take our students ever further.
