Our school s cross country race in May 2026
On May 7 and 8, the courtyard of the French School of Vienna was transformed into a true arena of challenge, encouragement and solidarity for the traditional LFV Cross Country event.
From CP to 3e, all students took part with the same goal: to give their very best in an atmosphere that was both sporty, supportive and unifying. This 2026 edition also carried a strong charitable dimension, as it was organised in support of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders). As some families are still making donations, the total amount raised will be announced at the start of the next school term.
Led by the PE department under the guidance of Mr Lahaye, with the valuable support of the parent associations APE and UPEL, as well as sponsor Manner — who kindly offered a wafer snack to every participant at the finish line — the event once again brought the entire school community together around the values of effort, teamwork and solidarity.
On the course itself, every student took on their own personal challenge.
Élémentaire pupils ran for a set amount of time adapted to their age group, without rankings, in a spirit focused above all on participation. Collégiens competed over distances of 2000 m or 2700 m depending on their class level.
Beyond athletic performance, the LFV Cross Country event remains above all a human adventure: learning how to manage effort, encouraging classmates, persevering all the way to the finish line… and sometimes even surprising oneself. Many students felt a real sense of pride after pushing beyond their limits, especially on the more demanding distances.
A major new feature this year: every student was able to access their race ranking and statistics online:
Congratulations to all the runners, organisers, volunteer parents and teachers for making the LFV Cross Country 2026 such a wonderful event, dedicated to sport, sharing and solidarity.
